2003 - Spring
Richard, along with a number of artists, donated a piece to raise funds for the Mowbray Maternity Hospital, through the Tee Trust. Here are a few words from Karin Kuhn.
Your support of Martha May's Summer Ball has ensured that the Mowbray Maternity Hospital has much needed funds for next year - a great Xmas present for them!
The event was a roaring success, and it looks like we managed to raise over R200 000-00.
The auction was held by Joey Burke from Auction Alliance who is very experienced in holding charity auctions. David's piece was sold for R6500-00 and bought by Max Kroon (the husband of Lucy Linley, who heads up the Maternity Hospital). Richard's "Yellow Street Lights" was sold for R7000-00 and bought by Alison McFade while Leon Campher is now the proud owner of Karyln's "125ml" at a cost of R6500-00 . In fact the auction managed to raise just over R117 000-00! An unbelievable amount to be sure and was loads of fun for all the guests as they encouraged each other to raise their bids!
Sale of the tickets, in addition to a lucky draw, with lots of great prizes helped to raise the remaining money.
Once again thank you for all your wonderful support and we hope that you will be joining us next year.
